Role Overview:

We are currently seeking a talented and detail-oriented Financial Controller. The Financial Controller will be responsible for the finance function and be a key stakeholder in the business. The successful candidate will ensure rigorous financial control within the business, driving through change where appropriate and providing stakeholders internally and externally with accurate, timely and relevant financial information.

  

Key Responsibilities:

1. Reporting: Oversee management accounts production, create the monthly reporting packs and present to the CEO & FD. The presentation will include commercial and operational performance alongside the financials. Weekly reporting will include ECOM performance, FX and Cashflow. 

 

2. Statutory Reporting: Be the point of contact for the statutory audit, monthly submissions to HMRC on bonded stock, Quarterly VAT Returns & plastic packaging submission and bi-annual EPR (extended producer responsibility – waste packaging) 

 

3. Manage Team: Manage, motivate and develop a team of 5, ensuring quality output from each of the respective areas including management accounts, credit control, accounts payable, payroll and treasury.  

 

4. Relationship Building/Collaboration: Finance is at the forefront of the business, so it is important to develop relationships with all colleagues across the different departments. Key relationships to build will be with the warehouse, sales and brand teams. 

 

5. Financial Planning: Production of annual budgets, quarterly forecasts and monthly cash flow projections.  

 

6. Risk Management: Manage, review and sign off all expenditure in the business ensuring compliance with authority levels and financial processes. Develop and enhance the internal control framework, procedures, and processes to mitigate financial risks. Manage the risk of being in a multi-currency environment.

 

7. Ad-hoc: Assist the Finance Director in any other matters e.g. insurance, legal, contract review 

 
 

Requirements:

*       ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualified.

*       5 years post qualified experience.

*       Previous retail and wholesale industry experience would be advantageous.

*       Proven record of managing people.

*       Highly analytical and good at problem solving.

*       Able to improve system, procedures and processes.

*       Experience of Microsoft Business Central (Navision) would be advantageous.
